Katy Perry - Part of Me (Dir. Ben Mor)
Director: Ben Mor
thanks!
that was fucking stupid.
Forewarning, minor rant incoming:
The video makes you feel something - that undeniable patriotic stir in your chest. It's clearly well crafted and, while I would let someone kick me in the nuts for an opportunity to direct videos for some of today's huge pop stars, like Katy Perry, I wouldn't do this.
This is basically a commercial for the US military (seems likely they actually paid for some of it) and it's already too easy for the children of low-income families to sign up to travel half-way around the world to kill other poor people. I don't think we need the creative talents of our biggest pop stars and pop directors to help those kids make up their minds.
Like I said, I'd normally be more than happy to take a boot to the jewels for an opportunity to shoot for someone like Katy Perry; pain is just a small thing. However, cashing a pay-check earned by convincing 18 year-olds to go to war is the type of thing that goes too far for even a career-masochist like me.
despicable..
i think ice watches paid for the video given the several packshots throughout (they also sponsor katy and have the video on their homepage) but yes, it felt like an army promo. and yet there's some explanation: www.mtv.com
A heart pendant? shouldn't she be watching a smartphone?
What is she 12? I almost didn't watch it. It's naive.
Katy you're killing me. Absolutely not buy it. That said it's a good video. Well done. It's her whose unconvicing in her acting vids.
Hear she plans to call on Miz Goodwill Angelina Jolie! It's Popafuckinganda!
The craziest thing is that I'm sure Katy has no idea what the military industrial system is. Let alone what said system is currently doing in the world.....
^ That sounds all a bit Leni Riefenstahl'ish to me lusk
Let see what you could have won...
