P.S. Russian art group Voina marked New Year's this year by burning a police vehicle with gasoline bombs in St. Petersburg.

The vehicle, designed to be used by riot police to transport detainees was attacked as a "gift to all political prisoners of Russia," according to the New York Times. Voina released the video on Youtube January 1.

The art collective has become infamous in Russia and has been the target of a number criminal persecutions since its formation in 2005. Its radical performance art pieces have involved staged orgies, throwing cats at cashiers in McDonald's restaurants and flipping over police cars.

In 2010, Voina won an award sponsored by Russia’s Ministry of Culture for a work that consisted of a 210-foot penis painted a St. Petersburg drawbridge, which rose to point at the offices of the Federal Security Services at night. www.youtube.com
