Antony And The Johnsons "Cut The World" - Dir. Nabil
Elegant, beautiful piece. Arguably your best. Ace work my friend.
thanks bro! appreciate it
dark indeed
very nice. now i want to know what happened like in that radiohead video
Gorgeously photographed, elegantly directed, and pleasantly subtle in approach.
Isn't it pretty obvious what happened?
What I read into this is some very fine interplay with the lyrics. Just enough twist to converse it meaningfully to a particular context. At first I thought Abramovich's cameo kind of clashed, after rewatching I realised how thoughtful it was. Cheers Nabil, I'm now gonna go watch your other videos.
thanks for the feedback! i apprecaite it

@draht i meant WHY it happened. you know what happens because you see it, but WHY is what i wanted to know. maybe i'm reading too much into it. lovely stuff anyway
@brigs She and all those people wandering around - what do they have in common? What are the lyrics? What does Marina Abramovic do? If you recap what happened in a few sentences you automatically understand why it happened.
ooooooh, roll out the red carpet, the artist is present, she jus came out of her square of light
so, i reckon the PA was a graduate from abramovic's artist camp marinafilm.com
there, they train to cut up men, whilst reading aloud entire passges from en.wikipedia.org
weather forecast disturbs meteo sensitive people, jus like in 'take shelter'

the video? yes, elegant. except the camera thru the walls sequence which is technically awkward (no 'panic room' here) and also a cheap gimmick to indicate passge of time & spatial movement and also to avoid showing the most delicate and difficult beat in the video - the actual throat cutting. anything else to it? nope, its vapid and self-important
ps: when the secretaries take to the streets jus like in those riots they saw on tv, the video starts to look like 'blindness' (or any other end-of-the-world movie for that matter)
@nabil > Always good to see Marina Abramović. Was it your wish to cats her or Anthony's idea ? Great end, anyway.
it was Antony's idea! and thanks!
