Beach House - "Wild" - Directed by Johan Renck

Thanks i could'nt find it !
2012 - year of the boring indie rock video.
@Budget - don't you say that about every year?
Beach House is one of those bands with a fully realized sound but no fully realized visual identity (I'd also say the same about Arcade Fire and Animal Collective) - hence they tend to have lots of random videos that never really connect to the music in a meaningful way. Personally I put this video in that group.
@otc haha yes.
I feel like a lot of indie videos this year have been particularly bleak and completely faceless. This might as well just be scenes from an art house film cut to the song and released online as an unofficial fan video.
This has been a bad year for videos. Almost nothing has been memorable and almost everything has been derivative or stunted by ever-shrinking budgets. I keep hearing about the imminent resurgence of the medium and though I started out hopeful I'm becoming much less so.
As a director, with over a decade's experience in videos, I've never seen a more grim period. Indies want their promos for $5k and they're only too happy to tell you about their buddy that'll do it for three, majors want theirs for $25k, and everyone thinks that because cameras are cheaper the whole process is as well.
The mistake they're making is conflating equipment with people. If you want professional and creative work it has to come from a industry of working professionals and creatives. Music videos no longer support that; perhaps they never really did.
As long as they get the youtube views, nobody will want to spend more money on them.
Yeah I didn't like the video either.
@kalstark - the budgets are bigger than that if there is product placement involved. as am sure you know :). product placement is not a bad thing, after all. gives you more money in exchange of a couple of well placed pouring shots
but with so many video contests out there, so much for an industry of creative professionals
