FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ohio Recording Artist Releases New Music Video Urging Peace Through Kindness The video, filmed in downtown Canton, Ohio, invites listeners to share acts of kindness on social media using the hashtags #iftheworldcouldstopspinning and #iamthechange. May 20, 2015 (Cleveland, OH) -- On the heels of the Baltimore riots, Ohio native Mike Broemsen, a budding recording artist who performs under the name MIX-ICON, took his message of peace to YouTube, where he released his first official music video, “If the World Could Stop Spinning” (www.youtube.com) from the album I Am MIX-IXON. In the inspirational hip-hop song, Broemsen uses powerful lyrics, such as “stop what you’re doing and start thinking about the children” and “can you tell me, God, what they’re dying for”, to redeliver Ghandi’s message that we must be the change we want to see in the world. A refreshing alternative from the divisiveness, hate and violence too often prevalent in today’s society, Broemsen gently reminds us that the first step toward a better world is kindness to others—and that to inspire change, we must first set aside our own prejudices and differences, and open our hearts. “I wanted to offer people a message of real hope and change – one that inspires them to make the world a better place, not through violence, but through love and cooperation,” says Broemsen. “Change starts with you... Not with everyone else, but with you.” Broemsen invites listeners to join his movement by posting pics of kindness using the hashtags #iftheworldcouldstopspinning and #imthechange. Originally written in 2013, Broemsen recently remixed the song and then filmed the video in downtown Canton, OH, with the help of his friend, Adrian Smith of Lyndhurst, and local video producer Howard Sumner. BIO SECTION Inspired by artists and musicians including LL COOL J and Chromeo, Mike Broemsen began recording music while attending Bowling Green State University. After graduation, he continued to pursue his passion by deejaying locally, often playing his original mixes, and continuing to write and record his own music. The song and other hip-hop, dubstep and cross-over funk tunes by MIX-ICON are available for download on iTunes (itunes.apple.com) and Spotify. The video is available via YouTube (www.youtube.com) and the MIX-ICON Facebook Page (www.facebook.com).
