KESHA RELEASES NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “DEAR ME” FROM ACCLAIMED DOCUMENTARY FILM ‘DIANE WARREN: RELENTLESS’
WRITTEN BY AWARD-WINNING SONGWRITER DIANE WARREN
Multi-Platinum global pop superstar Kesha shares the new music video “Dear Me.” The original song is featured in the acclaimed documentary film DIANE WARREN: RELENTLESS. “Dear Me” was written by iconic 16-time Oscar nominated, Grammy and Emmy Award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, and produced by Guy Roche. The video was directed by Jessa Zarubica and produced by Michael Sarner and Bess Kargman, the latter of whom directed the documentary.
“We all know that Diane Warren is one of the most iconic songwriters of our time, but many people don’t know that my connection with her is multigenerational. My mom used to write songs alongside Diane Warren in the 80s. I’ve heard her name in our home growing up since I was a baby. Once my music broke into the scene in 2008, we have worked on projects together and every song more iconic than the next, but none of them ever were publicly released. This song was so special for her to ask me to sing. It’s a song written to herself for her documentary and she has said it’s one of the most special songs she’s ever written in her life. I’m so proud of her and I can’t wait for the world to see her documentary, she really is one of a kind, a true genius, a real artist. She’s so committed to her art and it’s so inspiring. I hope you all love the movie and Diane, I hope I did your song justice.” - Kesha
"’Dear Me’ is a universal song that everyone can relate too. Kesha delivers it with a raw honesty that goes straight to the soul. We've all wished we could talk to our younger selves , but what if we could dance with them too? That feeling is so beautifully and powerfully captured in this video; can't wait to share this with the world." - Diane Warren
Song Lyrics – “Dear Me”
Written by Diane Warren, Performed by Kesha.
[Verse 1]
If I could write a note to my younger self Here's what I'd say Everything you're feeling now won't always keep you down There'll be better days
[Pre-Chorus]
Dear me, don't worry 'bout it You're gonna be alright, you'll see You'll see
[Chorus]
Dear me, it's gonna be alright, alright Trust me, all of the pain is all gonna fade You might think you can't do it But you're gonna get through this It'll all get better soon, you'll see
[Verse 2]
Dear me, I know you feel like nobody understands What you're going through You just wanna run and hide Every day feeling like the whole world's against you
[Pre-Chorus]
Dear me, it gets better (Better, better) You're gonna be just fine, you'll see You'll see
[Chorus]
Dear me, it's gonna be alright, alright Trust me, all of the pain is all gonna fade You might think you can't do it (Can't do it) But you're gonna get through this (Get through this) It'll all get better soon (Soon) You'll see That's what I'd say to you
[Bridge]
Dear me Dear me Dear me, dear me, I'm writing you this letter To let you know
[Chorus]
You might think you can't do it (You might think you can't do it) But you're gonna get through this It will all get better Dear me, dear me, I'm writing you this letter To let you know, it's gonna get better Everything's gonna be alright, you'll see
[Outro]
Oh, that's what I'm saying to you Dear me
