Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry: "Director's Label"
According to German news magazine 'Der Spiegel', Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry are planning a DVD series called "Director's Label" with work of succesful music video directors. see here. (in German, sorry)
happy new year! :)
they are available from amazon.com and best buy, and borders, etc.. ..i've already ordered mine 2 weeks ago and should be getting it soon.
I got all three from Amazon. I just don't get that they are 25 Euro in Germany and just 17 Dollars in the US. Bought them here though because I wanted to have them soon. :)
I also bought "For Promotional Use Only", "Visual Niches", and "!K7 150 + DVD" -- I hope they are good. There is also a DVD featuring most of the Radiohead videos.
@cursor: Spiegel Online eben. Totaler Murks wie immer, ich tue mir dieses Boulevard-Magazin schon lange nicht mehr an, ich bin nur wegen eines Tipps meines Bruders draufgekommen.
... so the DVDs arrived. Chris Cunningham's and Michel Gondry's DVD are just great. Spike Jonze's work seems to be little bit weaker compared to the others.
I would have liked to have more technical info how everything was done though. You get an idea when you see the B-roll for "All Is Full Of Love".
For example, Kylie Minogue's "Come into my world" must be just massive rotoscoping, I think.
Especially when you watch the Chemical Brother's videos--they are just great, even if you can see some flaws in "Star Guitar" but this does not hurt the impression at all.
Well, I also bought all three DVDs, and they are all great. However, it's really hard to tell which one's better since every single work is totally unique. I personally thought Spike Jonze was the strongest. anyway, If you really like all three DVDs, you may wanna check Bjork's greatest hits on DVD (Volume man 2) and Mark Romanek's website. If there's any futher release from Director's Label, it should be Mark Romanek's work.
