"Silver (Who stole the groove ?)"
"Silver (Who stole the groove ?)" New video (3'05") Dir: Didier Malchaire
Video from the new cd : "Entertainment" by Marc Moulin out on "Blue Note".
...what the fuck...
After wasting your life watching this borefest of a video, go ahead and peruse the 'making of' clip found on the same site.
The piece is entirely overconceptualized. They intended to "turn the language of television against itself" but ended up with a bad PSA flooded with text effect(s) scrolling across a woman's body. I'm not even going to argue a case here, this one is all around dumb.
That was hot.
Often i wonder in watching a promo what was the pitch submited to the client at the beginning. I'm suprised so many go trough.
THE PITCH.
"ok, you've got a midget, in the south. and he..."
from the meeting:
Mark Moulin: So what's your idea for a video for my song, 'Sliver'? Didier Malchaire: Okay, basically, we're in an art class. A NUDE art class. Mark Moulin: Keep going.... Didier Malchaire: And the NAKED woman who is posing, has all the lyrics to the song going over her body.... Mark Moulin: That's sexy. Didier Malchaire: And then the students are drawing the nude model with words on their canvases. Mark Moulin: Fucking brilliant. How does it end? Didier Malchaire: The model gets up, and looks at the pictures. Mark Moulin: Then what? Didier Malchaire: Get this.... she WINKS at the camera! Mark Moulin: OH MY GOD!!! THIS IS THE FUCKING BEST IDEA FOR A FUCKING MUSIC VIDEO I'VE EVER HEARD!!! THIS WILL TRANSCEND SPACE AND TIME!!!! Didier Malchaire: Glad you like it.
lol
People putting lyrics on screen should be sent to guantanamo.
What about Michel's "la tour de pise"? I have no idea what it's saying, but I like the idea.
"tour de pise" play with neons and luminous signs to compose some of the words of the lyrics. But it was done 20 years ago before computers and typography came out in the industry. And it's existing signs, not junk effects.
