didnt like when that citylandscape is revealed fully at the end. otherwise i think its pretty dope! ...is this official video or a personal piece?

Nice work! Definitely above average. You are working with some very abstract ideas and they flow together very well. I agree with some of the criticism above but overall it's really good. I didn't really like the city skyline at the end because it's not nearly as strong as the central building you focus on. What did you build it with?

lusk, I agree that posting on here opens people up to getting critiqued harshly, but to compare yourself to Pauline Kael is a bit preposterous. Your critiques lately have had the air of "I-know-what's-good-and-you-don't" type of smell, like the people who post really long winded movie reviews on the IMDb as if their opinion really matters. There's nothing wrong with someone posting "Good job!" towards someone's work. It may not have depth, but it's always nice to have people appreciate something you've done.
I've posted my share of snarky comments to be sure, but come on, let's turn down the ego a bit.

         

Haha, captainmarc is a 'hot shitter'. I don't have anything to say about this, pretty nice I guess, I just wanted to also praise mr. lusk's thorough critiques. You're the michel gondry of music video...critiquing, that is an odd looking word.

         

"Hot shit" means someone have seen it and liked it. Sometimes nobody answers so it never hurts to drop a line. I try to avoid negative posts without giving a reason. I'm trying not to present my point of view as the state of the art either. It's just my 2c. Try to do one video once you'll see how it's hard.

         

to clarify: "Hot Shit!" means it's good and "Cold PooP" means it sucks -

There are 3 types of people who post here:

1. People who find a cool video online, often by an admired director or artist, and want to share it with everyone.
2. People who are working for a record label, type in "music video" in google and think this is some kind of free advertising site - like the Amy Grant and Enrique videos.
3. People who post their own work: like mate, here, who are starting out and want feedback.

The #1 group is why I come here - seeing new work by no-name artists is nice but there's way too much of it - ya can't watch everything that comes through.

The #2 people deserved to be mocked, insulted and berated - otherwise they'll keep coming back.

The #3 people need honest criticism - mate (this post) is obviously in this group. I dug his piece and gave it a "thumbs up." Not gonna tear it apart cause it's not that bad, not gonna write an essay cause it's not that great.

LUSK everyone enjoys your provocative comments but you can't berate people who don't have the time or interest to write a tome. Cause that's Cold PooP.
