UNKLE - REIGN + Daniel Askill
LINK UPDATED mov here or here.
Askill is director of the most talked about/award winning short of the year: WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO DIE.

It's an experimental piece that really adds up to nothing and is entirely about nothing but I feel like he may be a talent to at least keep on the radar.
He also has a small production house that he runs with a few partners:
his stuff is completely derivative and completely slick and souless.
there are shots that completely lifted, for instance the kid's back as he spins his arms is the same as cunningham's nissan spot on his dvd. the chicken game seems so much like glazer's rabbit in your headlights and the man jumping through the glass window just reminds me of matrix one.
he has the feeling of a fourteen year-old boy who never grew up and who has learnt how to make his films look REAL good.
i'm torn though. its pretty good stuff and its very well done but you certainly don't feel a visionary at work. (and yes, i know not everyone has to be a visionary.) thanks for the link lusk
I've decided not to watch it.
no wait i like the sia promo.
