Prodigy "Hotride", dir. Daniel Levi
this was rejected by the band (back in 2004). uncompromising and tight (but again, who's not thinking revolution-action-y-control-come-on-my-selector...?)
xvid avi here.
(as featured in the waveform podcast)
Not only it's violent but it's stupid too. Good it was rejected.
but it's an interesting companion piece to the video Daniel Levi did for LFO with all those little asian girls running wild. It's called Freak (but it's a well known video, so most of you knew that already :-) here is the first link I found to it in google video.download.com
i could have sworn that this was posted like twice before.
Crazy video!
levi is wicked..keep posting..I can watch his stuff all day.
This is a ridiculous video. Levi keeps on repeating himself, this time he made his own work laughable and pathetic. One of Liam Howlett's great decisions to put it in the garbage can, not even worth as a hidden track on a DVD.
Cunningham and Levi were coincidentally in editing/finishing sessions in the same post facility in London at the same time. This was three or four years back while "Freak" was still being edited (and no one knew of the video that was to come). One of the additional editors cutting "Freak" ran into Chris, who had caught a glimpse of this thing and was curious as shit about what the fuck was going on! He simply asked if it was was any good, to which a sort of "eh, you know" type of downplayed negative response was replied. I don't think either Cunningham or Levi spoke to each other while they worked there.
Cunningham is a master, plain and simple, while Levi was just emulating (and yes paying homage too). While many a shit video director have taken aspects of look and technique (and stolen praise) from Chris Cunningham, i'd have to guess many young music video creators (who respect and idolize Cunningham) just wish they had gone and blatently ripped off his style first.
Anyone got a fresh link for this?
crappy copy here, else u2b, no?
small avi
The director of the "freak" video was David Slade. Correction.
Asians breaking things and being weird? cliche. That's so mid 2000's.
Legends! Cheers guys!
I didn't realise I could find this on youtube.
Is there another official video for this track then? I couldn't find one on youtube, I guess they just didn't bother with another one.
It's amazing that it was binned as they must have read the treatment (and it looks like it wasn't cheap!).
