Liquid Liquid "Cavern" Dir. Oskar Fischinger, ed. Richard McGuire (1997 via 1927)
Patrick Daughters' Shins clip gives me real actual goosebumps on repeat viewings.
Cornelius "Beep It" dir. Koichiro Tsujikawa - hideously underrated - or non-rated, take yer pick - on Antville.
Ok, I've got to jump in finally. First off, I know Antvilleans may think otherwise, but Patrick Daughters is NOT the music video god everyone thinks.
Don't get me wrong, I think he is talented and I appreciate what he is trying to do most of the time, but I do not feel like he delivers. That is the biggest problem I have with his videos. Something is almost always missing, be it good performance, good production design, enough coverage, story not developed when applicable, ...
I can keep quiet about this no longer. I haven't decided yet if this deserves it's own post.
BTW, his Shins video is one of the most overrated videos of 2006! Yes, exclamation.
I also dug: The Klaxons "Golden Skans" dir. Saam Jay-Z ft. Chrisette Michele "Lost One" dir. Anthony Mandler Bloc Party "The Prayer" dir. Walter Stern Boards of Canada "In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country" dir. Neil Klug Zero dB "Bongos, Bleeps and Basslines" dir. Joe Tunmer Pop Levi repost
