ahh the perfume of Blomkamp. Nice though. Well done. That little fade at the end killed me. Ought to just cut out.

all kinds of great. fantastic performances, attention to detail&coverage. luv it.benroll, February 28, 2007 12:31:57 AM CET
Touches on being a little sentimental at times. But a four minute narrative with weight and feeling. Very nice.lusk81, February 28, 2007 2:16:35 AM CET
TODDY: If this is the 'perfume of Blomkamp', then he better start collecting and showering himself in it.This piece is light years ahead of tempbot. Fuckin way passed it.
The fade is not a problem at all. The killer was the electric sheep dream sequence. It's so classy to see the actor and his mannerisms. He's a totally believable robot. But when we segue into the robot's personality adjustment, it gets really serious (robot watching propaganda footage), and really sloppy (boring and ill conceived use of CG) and loses the edge the piece had.
Awesome to see them throw a robot needs a heart party. Why then pay that off with a personality adjustment? The whole too emotional bit...? It's cool, but goes wayyyyy overboard.
The lady could still love him. In fact, so much more interesting to have this normal corporate lady wanting to 'peel the armor' off a robot. And the robot being exactly that, a robot.

Actually, I have worked with two people who I think this actor could possibly have modeled his performance after. Disturbing really.
I figure an abrupt cutout on that great last line would be so much more appealing.
(I stand by it...a little Blomkamp, a little Data-gets-emotion-chip from Star Trek Next Generation and a little The Office. How do you critique this thing other than pointing out references?
(That and pointing out the very last edit.)

People, thanks for the criticism. toddyokoh, just to take away your disturbing feeling, our actor is Paul van der Laan, a Dutch actor from a mime theatre group called Bambi. We just filmed a couple of shots in London. I can't imagine he knows the actors you're talking about.

i am a bit tired of seeing robots. but absolutely well done.toddyokoh, March 1, 2007 4:33:17 PM CET
The disturbing feeling comes only from feeling like perhaps I have been working with robots and have not known it. This makes it seem all too possible.mayze, March 1, 2007 8:55:00 PM CET
