Ugh. Horrible track, horribly ugly cel-shaded CGI used to ape the nightclub scene from Roger Rabbit when traditional animation did far better. A terrible video for a director of Nima's calibre.
Edit: terribly wobbly composition when CGI Lily is interacting with live action objects too.
         
MONKEY: You're out of your mind mate. The CG was solid, as were the respective comps. If anything, you should be banging on the interaction shots within the live action plates i.e. man having to act as if he got pushed from the head down.

Overall they tried to make a cartoon sexy and it worked.

Promo has a lot of class. Even the obnoxious laugh at the end, straight class.

Nice work overall, but the CGI needed to be a bit more organic, or the music needed to be a bit more sultry. (or lose the beat?)

10 points if you can spot Nima's new best friend Deep Roy.
         
An absolute joy. I grinned from ear to ear when i realised what the idea was. Super clever. Hats off Nima.
         
If I'm not mistaken, I think the waitress serving Mark his drink is director Kinga Burza.

pretty cheesy. I'm not a fan of mixing cartoons with live action the way this video does.
         
Considering the level of craftsmanship in CG character animation people are just 'used to' these days, it is daunting to try to do anything without millions to spend. Given that, I'd say it is a decent effort. The face was the main thing I'd critique, often inexpressive or creaky.

Would it be too conservative an estimate that there are probably less than 200 people on earth who can REALY rig a CG face?
         
Was she meant to look like a 12 year old girl wearing too much make up in mummy's clothes? Really creepy and not sexy at all. The poor character design lets it down more then anything.

well executed and well directed. i didn't mind the CG. But no matter how well its done, having cartoons interact with live action has always and always will look super cheesy, and just plain uncool.
roger rabbit is the only one that kinda got away with it, b/c it makes fun of itself.
         
why all this unqualified criticism from some ?

it looks great, it's got charm and Lily's character design is fantastic.

i liked this too - seemed right for the song. what's the point in comparing it to the original, something carried out with far more time, money and resources?
         
Some people are so thick!!! The animation is like it is because it is supposed to be like that. It's not JURASSIC PARK! A video like this is so hard to execute and the excellent execution by Nima and the rest of the team IS a testament to Nima's excellent skills as a director. When you are doing something right there will always be some asshole who doesn't like it!

WELL DONE NIMA!!!! SMASHED IT.

great stuff. yes, that's kinga as the waitress! Yowzer!! And that isn't Deep Roy, it's Keiran Shah who was in Nima's Jamie T vid.
Only bad part of the vid was the crap Kaiser Chief cameo, they were more wooden than the chairs in that joint...
         
i love this. more videos need to tell stories with high concepts.

i agree with the UGH... i thought this was done on spec when I first saw it. horrible, incongruous CG badly composited into a what looks like a Lowenbrau TV spot....No heart, no soul, no flow. If you can't do it right, then don't do it... I used to like this cover - now that this is burned into my subconscious it will never be the same.
