The Winners (say hi) !
On the strength of a mere two videos this year, Romain Gavras earned himself the scepter of Best New Director of 2008. Though usually reticent to comment his own work, he sent the 'ville a brief comuniqué:

I received a lot of hate this year because of the Stress video - I love getting hate, but a little love is good sometimes too, so thank you very much for these awards... I'd like to thank my director of photography André Chemetoff and my producer Mourad Belkeddar, all the brilliant kids acting in the Stress video, and Chris Marker.
Of course, that's just him trying to rosy up his public image - when he first heard of his awards (including Best Editing, since he does his own), what he actually said to Mourad was: "What? Why not Best Video?!"
