Question: Videos copying movies
How many videos can you think of that borrow their plots from old film school staples. There seems to be a fuzzy line for what passes as respectable. For example everyone seems to love Tonight Tonight, right? But last week everyone jumped all over the new Garbage video.
What are the best/worst mv movie knockoffs that you can think of and why?
Some examples: <a href=youtube.com>Audioslave - Show Me How to Live Dir. AV Club (Vanishing Point) Amerie - Take Control Dir. Scott Franklin (Blow-Up) <a href=youtube.com>Red Hot Chilipeppers - Otherside Dir. Dayton & Faris (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari)
To a lesser extent: <a href=youtube.com>Busta Rhymes - My Bitch Dir. Benny Boom (Mr. & Mrs. Smith)
Catherine Feeny: Mr. Blue (Director Graydon Sheppard)
Director Graydon Sheppard puts a playful spin on Catherine Feeny's somber ballad, "Mr. Blue".

Goldspot - Friday (Dir: Michael Baldwin)
Infectous little pop marvel from LA group Goldspot - but you would be forgiven if you thought this was British. Shot however in England, in a secondary school in Enfield outside of London. We ran massivley out of time with all the kid stuff and had to do the performance bit in a mad hurry. That's why there are no shots looking out towards the windows - it by then was pitch black outside (and I was all out of helium ballons and 18K's..). Directed by Michael Baldwin and produced by Beth McErlain.
Lisa Maffia - Bad Girl (Dir: Michael Baldwin)
Shot in a modernist villa in Reading, outside of London. One of Michael Baldwin's first jobs since his move to Therapy. Produced by Beth McErlain.
