The shor twas awarded the Palme D'or in the short flm category at the closing ceremony on the 25th of May in Cannes, France.
Waves ’98 is as much a narrative film as it is a personal visual essay dedicated to Dagher’s hometown, Beirut. The film is an artistic exploration of the director’s current relation with his Lebanon, his home country, projected through the story of a teenager and set in 1998. Since moving abroad to study and work, Ely Dagher has been spending more and more time outside of Lebanon, and his attachment to Beirut Started to become more and more complicated. The overall Narrative of the film is heavily based on Ely’s efforts to understand his changing relationship with the city and it’s life, juxtaposed with the narrative of a teenager’s exciting discovery of this segregated city.

Dublin band Monster Monster release their single “Assassin” on 25 September, taken from their debut EP set for release in October 2015 which was recorded with UK producer James Lewis (Rudimental, Sunset Sons, Morris Rae). The music video for “Assassin” by Antoni Sendra Barrachina can be viewed here. The band have several live dates confirmed including Mart, Dublin (23 August), Cleer’s, Kilkenny (9 October) and Upstairs at Whelan’s (23 October).
Monster Monster began in the most unlikely of situations; an argument in a bar. Songwriter Mick Stuart (who can't sing for nuts) was looking for a singer. Whilst out with friends in Dublin's Stags Head, Mick got into a heated discussion with singer-songwriter Ríona Sally Hartman as to whether or not singer-songwriters could do a good job with other people's songs. With every pint the debate got more heated until a challenge was set and the pair agreed to meet the following day to put their arguments to the test. Ríona won!
