the performances and make-up are pretty awesome - but the compositing/effects are awful... you can only imagine how entertaining a slick version of this would be.

I dunno, I think the cheesy effects are part of the video's charm. It certainly manages to capture the energy of the song. Having watched it twice, I come down on the "great video" side--but I understand why others might not.
