The Ting Tings 'That's Not My Name' (dir. Indica)

The Ting Tings directed by Indica for PTE now available in glorious quicktime (23MB) (and in the correct aspect ratio...)
This is a repost. The director is in fact David Allain
As we have stated in a previous post, David did not direct this on his own and the video was commissioned to Indica by Mike O'Keefe. Simon Poon Tip was personally heavily involved in the treatment, shooting and editing of this video. Who are you Maltese Falcon? I didn't see you on the shoot.
i've never seen a MD of a company take credit for his directors work...David did direct this and decided to leave PTE on the back of it.
Who are you Nakkita? Simon Poon Tip is not only the MD, but is also an integral part of Indica as the rest of the Indica team will attest. This comment fails to take into account the working methods of this collective.
guys/gals? the track is real cute, but this video's not worth fighting over.
was this the re-shoot coz the Sophie Muller 80k one got binned?
It took more than one person to shoot this? The track is ginormous, with actual crossover potential, why won't the label pony up any money?
At least they painted the turntable out... videos.antville.org
and the pratts dont even have the courtesy to post us a streaming mov
[sarcasm] Aww shucks. Looks like the bandwidth ran dry at that QT link. tear [/sarcasm]
yes scooper. yes it is. But you knew that already, didn't you.
God what an ugly scene! is this really what Music videos are turning into?, sometimes I really count my blessings that I am in animation and can actually take full credit for what I create.
a v. contentious post (and a repost at that!).
can someone fully explain what transpired? I gather Sophie's was binned after it went into production...
sophie's was shot for £90k and canned coz it was nondescript; indica were commissioned to re-shoot, and they did for £15k, with david allain helming, producing the up-top. pte/indica then fell out with allain, ensuing in the above pettiness. of course, that's just what transpires. ms muller's definitely had its merits...
Its a shame this video has caused such a fall out. It couldnt be more bog standard. Move on everyone I say.
just to fan the flames: i heard mtv want to play the sophie muller one.
So wait, the 90k video was canned for being nondescript, so they went with a treatment where the band plays in a white room to fix the situation?
nondescript performance & close-up issues - basically band not feeling it, from what i'm told. (fwiw, i side with mtv on this one.)
The Indica video cost £15k? Jeez. It's all right, but it looks like £5k at the most.
That is pretty worrying if its all true.
How is it record companies can be so miserly at one end of the budget spectrum, and then bin a 90k video at the other end?
Glad the record company have so much to chuck around. Maybe if they ever deployed some marketing prowess, like they're paid to, BEFORE videos are made people like Sophie and David wouldn't have their time wasted.
Seeing as that 90k that was spunked up the chimney will probably have to be recouped before the band see a penny, i hope they don't regret being touchy about some close ups when the sales figures come in.
Sophie's version is up on the Factory Films site now...
I heard that this one will be used in the UK and Sophie's will be for the rest of Europe? Is it true?
I'm with spit on this one.
It's like switching out coke for diet coke. it's still fucking soda pop.
Yeah, blair's got a point. Wonder if the Ting Tings realise how much money they're not going to earn because of all this indecisive/careless spending on videos?
