This could've had so many more in jokes and could've been way better. The fact that they got the Gavras reference wrong is a big sour point. Also the pretty woman 2/moodyson opening didn't land well.
interesting idea; but I agree, 90% of people won't get it. When you do parodies of music video cliches, you need to parody big, mainstream videos. (Like this one for the Roots).

If the song was in English, why wasn't the dialogue? And, why not have a version with the dialogue over the song?

Is that really what the director thought the public would think a video commissioner would look like? It's 100% wrong in real life, and in my opinion, 95% wrong as a cliche. The guy should be some overtanned 40-something guy with a pony tail and blue tooth earpiece - not a Hollywood old-timer.
