Janet Jackson, Rock With U (Saam)


I know this had people in a tizzy last time since Saam went mainstream with a big budget, but he has teamed up with Janet Jackson for another video. It seems as though he might be directing every video off of her new album. This one features no special effects, no fancy camera techniques, just a straight-forward poppy dance video.

The video was based on the 80s Blitz Kids.

yeah! sweet Janet is back, she was trying too hard to be sexy the last couple albums, personally I think the Saam/Janet pairing is great!

Yeesh. If any song from this album was gonna get a special effects treatment why wasn’t it the disco one?
I don’t know. It is harmless… and I shouldn’t have such high expectations..

I’m gonna say average.

Janet’s performance seems sincere.

Hell, anything post Call on Me is a masterpiece.

Actually it's not a one-take. Saam wanted to do that but instead they shot it in three parts, if I remember correctly.

Call on Me was a steaming pile so I think using a new director will benefit her. I too expected something with more sparkle but it kind of has a LaChapelle feel like this. Nothing revolutionary but at least it's about her dancing and not her boobs.
         
At least this video doesnt have floating....milk. The video has a Euro feel and look to it. I agree that this is like a LaChapelle video, or even to an extent, a Gondry video.
