Interview with Johan Renck
I just posted my first in an upcoming series of interviews. It's an interview with Johan Renck. I'm lining up a few others. Enjoy! (This'll be the only time I'll create a post about these.)
Lotsa links to his vids, and some really good ads too.

Birushana - Japanese doom/percussion - live
just to mix it up a bit, I thought I'd post some of these guys shot last week. They play 44 gallon drums with metal hammers and a car rim. Fretless bass, guit and regular drums as well.
sound is camera mic and it's dark and dirty.
The View From the Afternoon - Arctic Monkeys (Director: W.I.Z.)
I couldn't find a still of the video, so I decided to put in a photo of the band.
Now, the whole premise of this video is that this guy is playing the drums out in public. Actually, it's a video that is very original (I think) and different from any other music video out there today, just like their previous video, When the Sun Goes Down (Scummy Man). It's a great video for a great band.
here's a different version of the video that has dialogue in it: www.factoryfilms.net

Pirate music video remix contest, mateys!
Because kidnapping and killing people on the high seas is exactly the same as sharing music(videos) with your friends!
- The remixes/mash-ups should feature at least 10 seconds of recognizeable pirates (the traditional ARRR MATEY sea-going pirates). The entire video doesn't have to be pirates, but there should be a few clips to remind people that this is in fact a pirate party.
- The music needs a beat that people can groove to. Extra points if the music is plunderphonics or otherwise exercises your fair use rights, but the primary requirement is that the music be danceable.
- The music video should be placed somewhere online where we can download it, in a format that VLC can play. MP4 or MOV will work fine.
- The deadline is April 21st.
The Pirate Parrrty will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, 10pm-2am, at the Upper Tarble, Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA, 19081; there will be costumes, remixes, eyepatches, and ARRRR.
