Vic Thrill and The Saturn Missile "Lick Yourself Clean"
The new one from Vic Thrill and The Saturn Missile. From the upcoming album Circus of Enlightenment. Short and Sweet. Directed by Chris Cassidy www.casspix.com QT 1:40 www.brooklynrock.com
Chris,
I'm always impressed by videos where the director is able to use talent and energy to overcome an obvious lack of budget. You came very close here; the colors are striking, there's some really interesting images, and you've definitely captured the band's energy and personality.
What I think this video is lacking is some sort of central unifying concept. For me, energy and visual skill can only hold my attention for so long; I need some sort of unfolding idea to keep me tuned in.
So--if you'll forgive some unsolicited advice from a total stranger on the Internet--don't coast on your visual sensibilities. Take some time to come up with a killer concept for your next video.
thanks jacobw, thats exactly what we are doing for the next one. i figured this one could work for 1:40. we're pretty pleased. for about $35 and a favor from a spectacular editor, kevin halleran (woo-hoo) you can't beat it.
Very nice! It's rare to see a video on here that captures so much personality.
wow that was irritating. Seemed inspired by Gap and ipod ads. vapid.
lovely!! i dig the overall palette and like the little props that were used. nice editing too!
That song is prett good, it seemed alot darker than the videos bright and colorful tones and quick edits. And the singer is over acting?
Whaddya expect, we shot it in an hour with no concept and they slapped it together in a day! We just wanted something where we looked handsome. Am I over acting? You're being nice! "Gap and iPod ads", great call. It definitely has that going on. Now ask me if I give a shit! Hopefully some high powered music biz cheese-ball who shops at the Gap and has an Apple fetish sees it and thinks it's hip. Life is short, be impulsive, get things done, judge it all as a body of work! Stick to the poo - Vic
ha ha, is that a first? A musician responds to critique of their video.
If budget and time constraints are so crucial to appreciating this commercial, why don't you open with a disclaimer? That way, people will know why it sucks.
Um, never mind. I don't like this anymore. Some personalities shouldn't be captured.
Um, never mind. I don't like this anymore. Maybe some personalities shouldn't be captured on video.
Pretty obvious the song took about as much half-assed effort as the video. The whole thing looks like student work. Good luck with everything.
Whoa, talk about presents under the tree! What happened to you Issac? I expected this from Ishmael, but not from you! I don't shy away from potential friendships that open with pot shots. Captain Marc old friend, I thank you for the scarification on my back. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
good edits, cleanly shot. second vic vid i like. (shut up, vic...)
I'm actually impressed with the $14.00 video. I've seen them live a few times and they put on a massive show for two guys, some instruments and some good tracks. The video gets down to the heart of it which is heart. Have any of you seen Vic play? Vic could play Copa Cabana on one snare drum and you would all love the performance. They're a great band and a great show. I can see how the video might get you really mad (no i can't). Point is thats the band and thats what you get. No holding back.
