Attack / 30 Seconds to Mars (Dir: Paul Fedor)
It's well done, but Jerrad should with acting. -j
i really dig the effects in this video. i like the overall look of it even if it's a bit repetitive. i always wondered what leto's band sounded like, and it's actually better than i had imagined.
unfortunately, kids are going to eat this up in a big way.
oh jared leto. they're not so space-oriented anymore, are they?
They really haven't been space oriented on music videos. "Edge of the earth" was an edit of concert footage and "Capricorn" was mainly performance. I like Paul Fedor's take on performance videos, very carefully crafted and synched to the music.
anyone know anything about this director? has he done any other videos?
Fedor was a celebrated Flame artist for some time before stepping into promos. IMO this background hurts his work for they tend to be so very effects heavy.
He was signed with notorious but has sinse moved on:
He's done work with anonymous but they don't really promote it and I believe he's with Palomar now but their site is inactive.
He had a short in the first resfest (when the were screaming from the heavens how revolutionary digital cinema would be). As per their press release:
"One major highlight, Paul Fedor's all-digital "Sympathy For The Devil" (set to the Rolling Stones song) uses no celluloid film at all and yet maintains a richly saturated color and lighting design worthy of Caravaggio, while using a fast-cutting, hyper-edited pace greatly simplified by digital computers (the piece was edited on Premiere, Strata and Media 100)."
And right out the gate Partizan had their eye on him but did little to push.
He is with FM Rocks now. Palomar has been defunct for some time...
PRESIDENT: Great Look!
For some reason the videos weren't loading on this site. Any Ideas?
Yeah, this is nicely done performance, but I'm not a fan of the song at all.
videoreo- I'm not sure kids will eat it up, I think this was released 4-6 months ago. It didn't really go anywhere.
I think Fedor is a great director. Look at all he's done. Minerva is an awesome performance video, and I also like Running away. Haven't seen The nobodies, but judging by a few stills it must be great too. I don't notice the "effects heavy" trend you mentioned, lusk. ¿Mind elaborating a little bit?
The FM Rocks site has never worked for me, I think it doesn't even offer streaming clips.
Paul Fedor took his name off this, supposedly over a dispute regarding the edit, most likely with Jared Leto. In light of which you have to wonder if his eyes being scratched out isn't a comment of sorts.
I've never considered Fedor to be an effects heavy director at all, though he uses them well when he does. I've always thought of him as more of a photographically oriented director. In his best work he always creates seamless visual worlds that resonate on a visual and emotional level. Minerva, The Middle, that POD one with the signs. I wish he worked more frequently, but I feel like the budget range he works with is rare these days for his type of work.
Fm Rocks media chamber really does sucks balls, but all company specific players are bullshit. Downloadable quicktime or die.
Most production companies have been getting pressure from the labels to not have streaming video on their websites. Universal especially, is trying to collect money for running videos - even from prod cos that made them. This is one of the downsides of the iTunes video sales thing.
This video IS GREATTTTT finally something decent on this forum
