that beard is pretty good 3d.
also: i've never heard a song entirely burped before. really had me chuckling.
(seriously though, there are quite a few interesting bits, visually, in there. if you ever decide to re-edit this: lose 95% of the performance, and the photoshopped-oil-smeared-singing bits; concentrate on projections, macro, the chalky guy and the monster - though the background is almost better than the creature...)
thanks man...I did the backgrounds... and produced this, I left editing to the lead singer guy. If it was my call.. what you suggest, is exactly how I woulda cut it. I fought hard and long for white guy's inclusion and the dragon was originally gonna be a dali styled bat-like dinosaur walking across a desertscape with the same sort of backgrounds..

regarding the cut - i'd have thought the quality of some of the images would have warranted a less cutty cut, which might have contrasted more poignantly with the frenetics of the track. this way it feels as though you're not very confident in the visual interest of the scenes. (also: still way too much beard, performance and hammered-glass for my likes...). still - it's something of an improvement on the other cut.
fair enough, they wanted it cut fast tho, and I'd agree... you either do it gay metal syles, like all that operatic german stuff, or you try and mash it up through a meat blender, the way the kids dig it, fast furious and as BRUTAL/Jarring as you can get it. Death metal/gring is about being assaulted by the music..As for the hammered glass... well, I couldn't really change that as it had been comp'd already.
my guess is exactly that: you'd feel more assaulted by the sound if the images weren't so jumpy. anyway, nuff said.
