only just noticed a possible source of inspiration for gondry's chef d'oeuvre: disney's fantasia (the orchestral bits). the color scheme, the pyramid steps, the players reduced to musical figures (and grouped by instruments), the rhythmical pulsing (here, of lights&dancers, there of fischinger's musical monads).
or is't my delusion?
