C-E2 - All He Needs Directed by Nicolas Randall from directing collective Family.
For all those Mike Mills fans out there this is an absolute classic. A recent cover of Air's "All i need" by Melbourne band C-E2 provides for a hilarious and well deserved parody remake of the Mill's video.
I think this was posted before but the link died.
mov here.
Be sure to check out the stars own home page too via the link www.kurtandtom.com
Enjoy.
it was, but thanks for posting it again. I missed it the first time.
That was really sweet and funny. Er, can we get more gay remixes of love vids? I like. Hilarious how not-gay those two are though. You could tell they were hoping for only one take to get that kissing scene done.
Has otaku seen this yet? All I Need is his fave vid.
I just saw now and my mind is blown. This is so fucking good. I would hire Kate Millwright to shoot based upon this parody. If there's a Director's Label Mike Mills DVD this has to go on there. The funniest thing is how those two guys fake the faux naive naturalism of the real couple and their dopey love. This is so good it almost ruins what is one of my favorite videos of all time. I'd say a video parody is way too self referential but this is also homage.
Has it run in Resfest or anything like that? it needs to run in front of the crowd who will really get it.
Whoever you Antipodeans are, you did a great fucking job.
For all you Oz people, we call em fruit booters.
So-so, great characters... I would like to see more "covers" of music videos, I am not sure there has been much exploration of that, thats beens sucessful... It works in Features , but it can also be really bad..ie GVS Pshyco...
Watched again - I get why they say it's a "parody & homage," because it doesn't entirely work as either, but in a weird way it works as both (besides being well done).
Still, can someone just do a sincere (or stupid poppy) music video about a gay relationship? You can make Big BrokeBack Bucks, I'm tellin' ya, even if you have to rip off Mills to do it.
The gay pimp got things started..
Looks like my dreamrelationship I never had
;-/
Yeah, agree with Kevanthens... I think that it might be almost gay for gays sake... not in a positive way. I think people are afraid to critisize alot of gay art, because they are afraid that it will come off like they don't like gay people and not that the piece was not good. My friend and favorite artist Antony (Antony and the Johnsons) is a good example of being subtle ad true to ones self with out capitalizing or stereotyping the gay community.
It is gay for gay's sake, which is part of the problem if you look at the vid in this light.
If it were straight-up parody, Kurt & Tom would have been more hammy, there could have been some great humor here.
Had it been straight-up homage, it would have been a sincere couple in love, who jhtbg. It would have been in my opinion a very loving video to do, and would quite possibly have matched Mike's video in greatness, since it was already done so well. (copying aside)
I think that's where it fails. It could have been a lot better had they chosen sides. Still, it was very good.
this has won film festivals and stuff, but parody is a cheap way to get an idea. guys kissing guys, haha funny, yawn...
yeah guys kissing is always a crowd pleaser, "oh my god I can't believe they did that.. ha ha " and it is a little gay for gays sake, maybe a couple of butch dykes would havce been good. Still i liked it an props for having the balls/ audacity to parody that awesome timeless clip
watch it kays, at this pace you's gonna assplode!
