New Order "Turn" dir. Thomas Draschan
conceptually: yeah, ok, let's talk.
but then: pretty shitty editing, and just not enough work/criterion on sourcing/juxtaposing that public domain/achive.org/found footage stuff.
plus: when will this band throw it in?

umm as stated above, allmost all the elements of this were badly done. ok archive footage could possibly work as an element in a video, but against shooting something its a pointless cheap trick probabally created purely to market yet another new order dvd.
progosk, i´m not sure about the quality of the editing in this work (because i´m not so much into this topic, but i like for example the parallel-montage of the car-scene and the flight-scene). what i know is, that draschan´s main focus in all his works goes to editing...
what i dislike is the add-on of too much different (and overdone) colours to the film-material and the doubling of the text in the picture. the doubling´s just too close – i would have liked it to contrast it in some way to be interesting (at least for me).
what i like is the use of higly "moody"-pictures. they contain in itselves a story, when you see the picture - most of them are people in an rather easy depictable mood.
marty_mcfly, it´s a reasonable doubt, but in draschan´s case i can say for sure it´s not a cheap trick. flip over to his site (www.draschan.com) or check the excerpts of his films on shortsville to see, that he´s working on films ever since in this style. it´s his artist´s approach. btw he has a huge archive on all kinds of film on his own ;)
