Jihad Jerry and The Evildoers "Army Girls Gone Wild"
Gerald Casale from Devo has a new gig and its funny stuff earthlings. www.jihadjerry.com
extremely poor taste.
yeah its pretty bad. in america we call this camp. the more poor the taste the better. ;)
Casale said, "I say to you that I wear this Turban not to hide from Justice but to perform it. The enemy is not the Muslim, Jew or Christian but stupidity itself"
And in true DEVO fashion, he fights stupidity with stupidity.
I think this is just very misunderstood. Personally, I find it to be a direct extension of DEVO's political message, just stripped down and more blatant.
This is more than just camp.
"fights stupidity with stupidity"
Huh? DEVO was great for the smarts put into their work. This falls a little flat (not entirely) cuz it's a bit nonsensical. Why am I not inspired? (don't answer that)
problem is the army girls that did go wild (lynndie &co.) are an issue of something more than stupidity. plus if a dumb little pencilsketch can manage to inflame nations, i really don't get what a garish song&clip like this is meant to accomplish.
devo were way above this level of crass.
I agree anophonic! %100
If u knew anything about DEVO you would know that this is very DEVO
Lose the tude! Laugh a little and it will make this world a better place ;)
i grew up to devo, hak. their stuff was never meant to make you "laugh a little" or lighten up. it was also always a step ahead of the ebaumsworld - which this is not. crucially, devo was also very innovative music, and yes, uncomfortable (as this clumsily attempts to be) but almost always thought-provoking. not juvenile titillation to a crappy tune.
sorry - this new version of gerry just doesn't cut the mustard. nuthin' to do with any 'tude - i'm just disappointed (almost as much as i was in this other junk-initiative of his)
Whatever dude. I think your looking into it way to hard. It was never meant to make you laugh? Do u now anything about the church of the subgenius?
Ok, so let's give up that we should compare this to Devo. Maybe Gerald has moved on
In that case: the song sucks!! :P nee-ner-nee-ner-neee-ner
Of course DEVO is better than this, I was just trying to show the connection. The humor in the music served as a catalyst to get it heard. The recent incarnations of DEVO have me a bit confused, but Casale is the only member who seems willing and able to get the group together to record a new album. At least he's doing something outside of Swiffer commercials...
I agree it does suck... but i thought it was funny... you guys have no sense of humor gosh!
I thought the Swiffer commercial and Dev2.0 were hilarious.
We're giving hakai a beat-down after he pulled an all-nighter, I think. Sounds like another Monday night at the bar!
more like a sunday night in after effects hell!
I like it. It's no Gates of Steel. But it's more than a fair amount of the acts out there bother to comment on in terms of current events. 'Be happy or not!'
Coincidently I saw this today.... um whats going on with Gerald and the fellas of Devo...I just don't even know what to make of it... but apparently he's responsible for this...
