There's some nice moments in this....but generally it doesn't feel like it knows where it's coming from. There's three videos in there. Just one would have felt more like it had the courage of its own convictions.

As a matter of taste, I would run a mile from using software to apply 80 years worth of dust and scratches to stuff - there's no bigger giveaway that something was shot on mini DV - besides, what's it saying?

It feels throughout like you're trying to zazz up the image. If an image is interesting, you don't need to zazz it up. If it isn't, no amount of zazzing up is going to help it. Maybe next time don't use any trickery at all: overlays, effects, tricksy editing etc. all go out the window and see what comes out.

Hope that doesn't sound too critical. I think it's a good first video.

thanks for your comments, I totally agree with you.

the grain doesnt really work on the googleVideo compression but it was a vertically animated layer. the idea being that the whole video had a rainy feel to it which works better at higher res.
