New Arctic Monkeys Video - 'Fluorescent Adolescent' dir. Richard Ayoade

love it!
I blame The Libertines (who were great). And Franz Ferdinand (who are good). And all the bad taste in England that has allowed this farce to continue for as long as it has.
Fucking perfect!
r ayoade, the actor? i see.
what's it, a skewy kind of prequel to bravia2?
Love it. Ayoade can do no wrong it seems.
What the hell is that scene of them as kids on a swing doing in there? A really weak moment for me. Some things are better left unsaid.
On the positive side, some nice moments in terms of cast, action and camera work. A great band who at least try to commision interesting ideas.
Evil clowns rule!
i gotta agree with the 'kids on the swings' comment. but clowns beating up people is always good for at least for a few minutes....right?
there was a US commercial a couple of years back which had fighting clowns in an empty shipyard! Really similar to this, I'll try and find it...
great! ... but see grant gee's clip for badly drawn boy's 'another pearl' for the best 'evil clown' clip to date.
I think if a band as big and “evil” as the Arctic Monkeys are going to have videos, they should always have videos like this one.

Performance videos just don’t work (at least not that we’ve seen) for these guys.
I like the clip.
erm, mainch? nope.
i might be out of the loop, but the only thing that seems at all big about the monkeys to me is the hype they've been inflicted.
step outside of that, and they seem like a fairly talented bunch of lads, writing (and playing) pretty sharp songs. plus they've gotten people to make some pretty clever vids, among which two performance videos (both by huse) that definitely weren't the usual dross.
in comparison, this one strikes me as pretty... juvenile.
so: nope.
What a brilliant video.
yeah... swings flashback isn't the problem... it's the 'how could it come to this' caption that goes before it: rest of flashback with real childhood photos is lovely though - maybe should've just done that?
i do really like the 2 guys dynamic - whoever's playing head clown is excellent.
agree wi prog: previous performance vids were wicked. but don't see this as juvenile, maybe just a little uncrafted in places. burning car ending felt a bit cop out. wicked that ayoade's directing though. bring on more.
