Farnsworth Bentley ft. Andre 3000, Kanye West, & Sa-Ra - Everybody (Dir. Dion Watkins)
I love me some steps.
I just watched the above...
I like Kanye, I like Andre, Fonzworth is a semi-interesting character. This video has over 300k views on Youtube and it's currently rated at 5/5 stars.
Given that, I now know 3 things - this promo is relatively popular, it is one of the shittiest songs I've ever heard, and I think the video is plenty crap.
I don't know what it all means. What I do know is that I am certain about my 3 points.

I like it!
Well agreed with kalstark, this is such a shitty video for such an average song.
The coverage sucks, as does the editing. If the idea was to make a bratpack style video, it definately fails. This speaking from someone with very low expectations from urban videos.
when the video is directed by fonz's brother, who is presently a usc film student, you KNOW it's going to rock. but not really.
burn!
I think the song is actually pretty rad, but the video is total crap. Terrible choreography, awkward camera angles and that annoying lens flare! ugh.
I'm with Surely on this one. The video is a miss on all aspects.
Bad ass production design!
Cute for what it is. It doesn't try to stretch into anything more than just a chance for a bunch of personalities to mug for the camera, which was probably a wise decision.
I think it's fantastic! I love the lens flare - filmmakers are finally learning to embrace these type things as part of the design.
The rawness of their performances really helped show their humor. Who the hell cares if they're off? They should be.
I love the move at 2:59.
I could do without the Intro though. Needs work.
Overall this is pimp!
I wonder what the budget was for this turd? It looks like a UKP£25k / USD$50k video. Is Dion Watkins a pseudonym of Mike Baldwins?
ouch, prairie! your disguise is a thin one x
@drdeathmex
"filmmakers are finally learning to embrace these type things as part of the design"
are you kidding me?
that wasnt good, but i dont think it deserves to be shit on. i personally love lens flares. I think this video is a strange mix of sloppy and slick, which to me is a big part of why it fails. song was cool tho...
The flares were probably just added in post. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not like people get excited on this site when a video has tracked down some funky vintage lens to give it maximum effect.
weak. and ditto to K's original comment - a shame because Sa-Ra/Kanye/Andre3000 can all individually be awesome when in the mood.
Aren't young, barely trained amateurs fun?!? They always make the best videos, right?
I liked the look setup in the first shot...but after the performance started the video failed to offer anything new.
