wow, just wow. I'm no vegetarian, but that was just wrong. Not edgy, not groundbreaking, just juvenile.

Here's an idea: take the same concept, but instead it's two overweight men, one in red paint, one in blue - and they're wrestling on a giant piece of paper. That would be fun and inoffensive, while still a bit edgy. Hell, make them completely nude if you want.

It's odd, this director has a lot of buzz on him, and I feel like this will REALLY rub people the wrong way. Like, before he was a quirky Dutch filmmaker with some interesting ideas, now he's some spoiled brat who thinks he can get away with stuff like this and it's all in the name of "art."

         

don't really see what is so offensive about this. Dogs sans-muzzles would be offensive, sure. Unless those birds were wearing those spurs that cock-fighters put on their birds, there's not much damage they can do to each other between takes. As for the video itself, it gets old pretty quick, but the idea is much better than two painted fat dudes wrestling. But, then again, maybe it's only better because that idea wouldn't offend too many people.

It didn't look like either of them were mortally wounded. I just thought the shots looked pretty good. I guess I'm just one of those ghouls that finds footage of lions catching there prey fascinating but loathe the violence & exploitation inherent in the NFL, it's a force of nature thing.

At any rate, the overweight guy (or girl, or couple) is a better idea it IS more ponderous to see PEOPLE exploit themselves.

they don't do it in a barn yard. Farmers don't keep rooster together because they fight, and one ends up killing the other.

What does that even mean? This video would be 100% different if it happened to include existing footage of a cow in a slaughterhouse, for example. But there's a distinct difference when a film crew is called up and animals are purchased for the sole purpose of trying to kill eachother on film.

If this video was directed by Dale "RAGE" Resteghini everyone would be calling him a redneck white trash degenerate. How is this any different if it's done by some art school Dutch guy?

I don't think it's "justifiable" or any more or less exploitive regardless of who does it.

I already think that Mr. RAGE IS an exploitive shill & one of the real purveyors of ugly, counter productive & completely useless imagery around, most of which I find completely pornographic & disturbing on a sociological level as it seems to represent so much of the mainstream. Only made more offensive by the amount of resources that go into such completely vapid work.

My point about file footage really is the question of to what degree is putting hard truths of any kind on display for public consumption acceptable? At what point does it have meaning or "value" & at what point is it simply perpetuating what it claims to protest or expose? Anyone involved in such exhibition that benefits personally is POSSIBLY to some degree guilty of the same thing,EXPLOITATION. Be it file footage, Cock Fights, or maladjusted narcissists who's only real talents are the willingness to do anything for attention.

For Me, it's a chicken or the egg thing. It's not a new question, a black or white issue, & may in fact be truly insolvable except on in the mind & resolve of the individual.

What I, and others find offensive here is that this was all put together for the purpose of making a music video. I mean, it's illegal to do this kind of thing in the US, and for good reason. It's animal cruelty.

This video sucks. So much light and good cameras. And the result just sucks. Some colored birds... thats all. And a white poster getting colored. An animal fight for art. And whats the Art? a poster.

If "Lars von Trier" slaughter an old horse that would have been slaughtered anyway... I find that okay to film that anyway. Or that Damian Hirst Video is also good.

But this video here is just sick. Animal Fight with no idea behind. The concept is lame. It's make me sick. No great story behind this.
