Busta Rhymes- Don't Touch Me (Dir: RAGE)
Does this video compared with the other great Busta/Hype videos, or is this a poor attempt. You Decide!
Best Busta song/video in ages. Effortlessly overachieving.
That's the way I like Busta. I don't get why he bothers with random collabos like the latest one with Linkin Park
awesome chorus, solid song. Not really a fan of the use of green screen but the whole video is pretty entertaining and very watchable.
Is Rage on track to win Antville's director of the year?
utterly disappointing. i miss them hype williams videos
Utterly dreadful. The amount of locations seem epic on paper until you realize that there are only two focal lengths used throughout the whole video. Medium and wide medium. Not very inspiring at all, what a hack.
This is a poor attempt of doing a Busta video from his hey days of the 90's. It just comes off as dated... low rent Hype Williams. Wack!
Sadly I must agree...this shit is weak. The fact that it's so much better than everything else Rage has done is only a mark of how truly steeped in shit his credit list is. Same thing goes for Busta and this in comparison to his recent videos. Credit due for this being such a cheapie, but its basically the Chinese child labor camp lead paint super cheap knockoff of a real Busta video.
Hmm difficult. I mean, the track needs no vid, it's so strong. I feel it just misses the mark myself (agree with yoga's technical whinge), although it's sufficiently varied and kinetic to get away with it
Rage must be stopped. www.petitiononline.com
This video is better than his usual fare, but compared to Hype, Meyers, Lil X etc it just plain stinks.
It should be pointed out that the budget for this video was probably considerably smaller than any Busta/Hype collaboration, especially since the label shot two videos for this album back to back. I agree with captainmarc, the whole video is a lot of fun and worth watching from beginning to end. RAGE might not be antville's style (weird name, giant muscles, not a pasty hipster), but he's good at what he does. Sure, his videos might pale in comparison to classics by Meyers, Lil X, or Hype, but comparing this video against work from the golden age of budgets is a little like wondering why Ace Norton's videos don't have the extra high-quality sheen that Gondry's late 90's videos had.
I think most people could have pulled off a video at least as pathetic as this for this budget. I honestly think he should be selling car stereos or something. Why do people keep giving this Rage guy truckloads of cash?
Names, Muscles, looks, and personality really have nothing to do with it, what matters most is the quality of work a director does. Rage has no style of his own, and it is a known fact he relies heavily on his directors of photography to lens and often times block his shots. He has been getting pretty large budget jobs but he tends to shoot the jobs for half the budget, taking home a good amount and kicking back a good amount to the label as well, hmmm, I wonder why he gets hired?
Rage...ahem, ahem... I mean budget. His continual uninspired low rent knock offs of other people's work is why he gets no props here.
Paul, I'm not saying that RAGE deserves 'props' for his work, but there a lot of directors on here who receive praise while doing "uninspired, low rent, knock offs of other people's work." Why so much hate for this particular director? And yes, I am RAGE, working under a clever internet pseudonym.
To answer your question, it's because the work is so consistently derivative and uninspired. There is sooo much of it and before you know it... here he comes again... with another shitty promo.
Rage, besides making horrible videos, hires young inexperienced producers, who besides breaking just about every rule in the AICP and MVPA handbooks also don't pay their crew for months, if at all.
