The Virgins - Teen Lovers (Dir. Ace Norton)
Latest video from Ace Norton
wow, that was awesome- cool concept, nice colors. lots of nice little details in there.
great work - cool to see a simple, fresh idea that doesn't need a huge budget. Feels very much like a UK video. And entertained the whole way through.
Clever and amusing!
great
This is pretty pop and succinct. Ace is so hit and miss for me his last few outings aside the Sebastien Tellier one have made me cringe. The lead vocalists awkward and goofy lip moves set off the comical frozen moments nicely.
The Cribs "Men's Needs" Diane Martel
Not one of my favourite Ace Norton videos but it's creative, suits the song well and made me want to track down the album. Job done.
p.s. Using a yellow background in some shots doesn't mean Norton's ripping off the Cribs video imo.....if that's what you were getting at?
Not saying its a ripoff, there are some other similarities than just the yellow background.
that was great! what the heck does it have to do with that cribs video?
that cribs vid (if spence hasn't deleted it by this comment) is a fucking stretch.
anyways, not a bad video. the misspelling of "wistful" is tragic though.
Not saying its a ripoff, just thought there are similar themes. I like this Virgins video better.
shame this couldn't be cast in the right agegroup.
love it
Nice to see Ace loves the bright flat backgrounds too...
The first ace norton video I have liked in ages. I hope I don't find out that its completely ripped off from somewhere later down the track. Although come to think of it the frozen action idea reminds me of the frozen action section in the metronomy 'a thing for me' video by megaforce. Ofcourse the two videos are presented in completely different ways.
those of you who frequent this site may know that there are few people who dislike the work of ace norton more than me. I've really disliked most of his videos, and think they are mostly not as well made versions of other recent videos.
BUT...I think the young man is maturing and there is hope for him afterall. Obviously he didn't make up the idea of people being frozen in space, but what excites me about this leap forward is that he added something on his own and didn't base it solely on the gimmick.
People who are posting other videos with solid color backgrounds really miss the point. What makes this video better is that it rose above the visual trick and actually told a story.
bravo ace. i hope this is the beginning of a new trend.
Did people waste all of their time trying to call things out as rip-offs before the internet? For Pete's sake.
@budget, probably not. Imagine the sheer amount of effort that it would take to produce the reference materials.
