Bombay Dub Orchestra
Six Degrees Records is releasing the debut double CD record by the Bombay Dub Orchestra on Tuesday, February 28th. The Bombay Dub Orchestra is the brainchild of two talented English musicians, Andrew T. Mackay (VAST, Annie Leibovitz) and Garry Hughes (Björk, Sly & Robbie). These two musicians wanted to do something that hadn't been tried before: to make the ultimate chill-out album using an Indian orchestra and soloists. Combining electronic sessions recorded in the UK with orchestral sessions in Bombay, India the duo have recorded with the cream of Bombay's Indian classical musicians - including leading players of the sitar, tabla, bansuri (wooden flute) and some memorable vocal performers. The end result is a new kind of lush, South Asian influenced symphonic chill music. Recommended if you like Röyksopp, Air, Zero 7, Deep Forest or Enigma.
