No Rain - Blind Melon (Director: Samuel Bayer)
This video is one of the classic videos of the 90's. For all of those who haven't seen it, the video is about a girl in a bee costume who finds a place where she belongs (i pretty sure that's the premise). The song is also one of the greatest one-hit wonders of all time (or in the top 100).
Pretty great video, an early work of Bayer's, under a bit too heavy Matt Mahurin-influence (Samuel used to be his cameraman that time, the mahurin-ish blurred edges showed up in his later videos too, and the concept is a bit familiar from some other MM-vids), but in a slightly more playful style.
lol, blurred edges.... what else has this guy dir'd?
All the vids from Green Day's 'American Idiot', some clips for Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cranberries, Marilyn Manson...just the big names.
Blind Melon is certainly NOT a one-hit wonder.
Among plenty of other classic videos we also might want to note that around the same time as this Blind Melon clip Bayer also shot a video for a little band called Nirvana ( Smells Like Teen Spirit)
Wreckingshop, please don't read one-hit wonder to mean a band with only one song worth remembering. It means that the band only had one hit. Blind Melon, therefor most definitly qualify as one-hit wonders along with many other great(er) bands.
Every male student in my English classes at UMaine circa 1993 looked exactly like these guys. (Y.T. included.)
wreckingshop: seeing as this was their only hit, I would say yes - they are one hit wonders.
