Peter Gabriel "The Barry Williams Show" Dir: Sean Penn
It's funny, Jerry Springer was close to running for Senator here in Ohio. I saw him when he was in Athens, and he'd honestly make a really damn good one, because he understands being both rich and poor, has been in politics before, and has the $ to subvert the campaign system. Sadly he has to wait until the show's over to run.
I understand where PG is coming from - I don't entirely get Jerry's rationale for his show, though he recognizes it's absolute fluff - but I don't think he has the entire picture in this case. (PG does great humanitarian work though)
kevathens: Just because Springer can talk a good game (he used to, in his early political days, mimick a Kennedy accent) doesn't mean we need to take his show on anything but face value.
His show is dog poop for the human soul plain and simple.
In the postmodern vortex any media is valid media and we've gotten far away from questioning the message as long as the messanger has a long car or a lot swinging arms behind them.
At least Jerry doesn't have a corny shaved head, long goatee, Matrix trenchcoat and bicycle gloves. What a weirdo.
Yikes, this video is icky. In a good way. How amazing is Christopher McDonald? "Be excited! Be-ee Excited!" anyone?
wow where to begin?

Anyone else recognize Barry Williams was the actor who played Greg Brady? And then he makes a cameo in the video? My guess - PG came up with this song (Barry obviously a take on Jerry, and Williams a generic lastname that sounded godo), and then they started casting - and Barry Williams agent was like "Hey!"... at least let my guy be in it!

Really, now? Didn't this whole Springer thing peak 8 years ago? What's next, a song about the Y2K bug?

Spicoli likes Peter Gabriel?
I think this is from 2002, still late even then.
Don't we reserve green-screened footage for weather forecasts and the Daily Show?
