"Anyhow Anyway" by The Brown Study Dir. Leah Dieterich
Hi there. I posted the rough Sufjan version of this a while back and got some helpful feedback. I have re shot it with a new song from a great unsigned artist (www.thebrownstudy.org).
I still would have liked to push it further, but alas the 9-5 made that difficult. I'm just glad to have been able to get it looking better then before as it's my first foray into animation.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks.
I like it. Nice. Maybe a bit too nice. But I like it.
ok, that works. (pretty voice - track makes sense with it.) but: why do the dresses move just like the figure? i mean: they're dresses, no? if she's to be the persona, then they needed some other, specific kinetics (layering them all, white-side to front was one such logic). other point: the arm move is nice, but did it really need to be the only time she breaks her 2d paradigm? a few too many 360's; could have done with a few more inventions for her movements. also: the looks-away to the upper shelf are a little too functional. you could have played with the dishes there. it was nice to find the cups&saucers rearranged - you could definitely have taken that further.
all in all - a nice little exercise - but makes you yearn for more.
progosk, your comments are again spot on. unfortunately the only answer i have, (and it's a lame one) is that i ended up with only one evening in which to shoot this and as you know, stopmo is an incredibly tedious process, and i was having an impossible time moving the dishes etc and the dolls in more complex ways because i could only access them from one side (since its a cabinet). so what i learned here is that next time i attempt stopmotion it should be on a set that i can access from at least 3 angles so i have wont knock everything around each time i want to make a slight movement. so yes, nice little exercise. at least you're yearning and not just hating though, i suppose. so, a little victory for me. haha. thanks so much for the feedback.
just wondering: what was your deadline? they're unsigned, it's your first, i don't understand the constraints.
mostly, i just wanted to give myself a deadline because otherwise, it's impossible to finish anything. i submitted it to res. not that i think i could ever get in, but its cheap to enter and its good motivation.
leahdieterich: I think giving yourself a deadline is very very wise. What's great about the web, and this board, is that you can be fluid with your work, just keep moving and there's much less emphasis in getting it spot on absolutely perfect for broadcast.
agreed!
