Cassidy - Erevan Tusk
Erevan Tusk, five uninhibited Parisians driven by two clear-voiced singers, plunge us into a lyric, romantic and energetic pop rock music, and lyrics tinged with stories, encounters and foiled affections.
“Cassidy” is one of the first songs by Erevan Tusk. It tells the story of a journey, based on an encounter with Cassidy, a mysterious and deeply memorable character. The song has a nice amplitude between an irrefutable rhythmic, elegant guitars and enveloping choirs. The lyrics are evocative and give free rein to interpretation.
And that’s exactly what Fx Goby did directing this video, as he was charmed by the song. His dream-like, contemplative and suggestive universe perfectly fits the spirit of the song. Carte blanche was given to him to direct the video: a true space of freedom and experimentation.
Fx Goby confronts a lonely hermit/ trapper character to a stunning landscape, a nature that is beyond him, and has him live a mysterious and incredible encounter. He stages the metaphor of the love encounter: the discovery, the search, the desire and eventually this extraordinary moment, this outside strength that fascinates and dazzles.
The video is shot in Romania for five days, three of which in the Carpathian Mountains. The conditions are extreme: the weather is fickle, the icy cold freezes the camera’s sensor and exhausts the team, the snowstorm slows down the work. But the Romanian hosts measure up and the human experience is tremendous.
A special note for the costume, designed by Fx and tailored by London fashion designer Cristina Aranda. As for the intriguing bonnet, it was specially designed by Barbara Keel, a British artist who works with fine felt.
Fx Goby signs a beautiful video that acts as a dream-like support to a subtle, sensitive and emotional song.
