It's obvious you and Wes Anderson have some weird competition going on (whether or not he knows that, I'm not sure), but shamlessly pushing your own hacktacular video for best of the year? I'm sure your Japanese grandfather would be very dissapointed.

the music review site pitchforkmedia.com has a pretty dandy list of its top 5 vids this year (of which only supergrass made this list). the jason forrest video is outstanding, and the others surely dont dissapoint.

The validity of this vote is about as reliable as a Florida election count. This should be called "Antville #1 Video of a director voting repeatedly for himself Award 2005".

hey folks, it was I who mentioned the Morningwood video along with several others in that original thread. yeah, I enjoyed the video and thought it was pretty clever but it didn't get me vote for best of the best. at that stage we weren't actually nominating anything, just doing a casual "best of" list. and I really had no idea that every video I listed would end up being placed in this poll. sorry

I think it's fairly easy to rig a vote like this with such a small readership. Hell, get your friends, agent, and family to vote for you and you've got it down ;)

Its too bad that you forgot the Jason Forrest - Warphotographer video.

I dont like the song but the visual experience of the winning video is really good.
         
I agree on that Jason Forrest bit. That's a really fine vid.

toe47: I agree it seems elitist. Please take this whole thing with a grain of salt and some good humor. I don't think this matters a whole lot, it was just good fun. And anyway, the Carpark North vid was highly-praised on Antville, while the Morningwood didn't fit the spirit of the place, really. Sorry if I offend with that judgement, but I think most readers here would think it a fair one??

Also, the Morningwood vid got a suspicious jump in the last couple hours the poll was open. It was lagging at around 3 votes earlier that afternoon.
         
UPDATE: This vid also just won the RESFEST audience choice award.
